Abstract: Commercial salmon piscary in Alaska can trace its root back to the difference of the 19th century. Since then it has undergone two important technological leaps that keep changed its fate forever; the expansion of cannery and the intensive focus on hatcheries. While both hold helped to boost the production power of salmon to a great extent, canning has almost pushed salmon genuinely close to the edge of extinction. Hatcheries on the other hand have successfully restrained such tragedies from happening. This paper will screen the origin of hatcheries through explaining how and when it came about into the salmon fishing scenery. At the same time it strives to present the significant socioeconomical impacts it has brought to this very detail industry and the American economy as a whole.
